3. Water will flow from a well in proportion to the depth to which it is dug, and knowledge will flow from a man in proportion to his learning. (396)

Friendship

4. One should help a friend in distress as swiftly as one's hand will rush to seize a slipping garment. (788)

Power of the mind

5. The stalks of water-flowers are proportionate to the depth of water; so is men's greatness proportionate to their minds. (595)

Selection and Confidence

6. Examine merits and defects, strike a balance, and choose the person for any job. (504)

Virtuous Life

7. With a successful life on earth one can achieve the status of heavenly God. (50)
